How Much Should You Invest?

Many first time investors think that they should invest all their savings. This is not necessarily true. You can specify how much money you should invest, you must first determine what actually can afford to invest, and what your financial goals.

First, take a look at the amount of money you can currently afford to invest. Do you have savings I can use? If so, great! However, you do not want to cut yourself short when you tie your money on an investment. What were your savings originally?

It is important to keep three to six months of living expenses in a readily accessible savings account - not to invest money! Do not invest money you might have to get hold of a hurry in the future.

So, start by determining how much of your savings should remain in your savings account and are suitable for investment. Unless you have funds from another source, such as an inheritance, which you recently received, it will probably be all that you currently have to invest.

Then determine how you can add to their investment in the future. If you are hired, you will still receive income, and may consider using a portion of the proceeds to build your portfolio over time.
